STATEMENT OF FAITH

We believe the Bible to be the only inspired infallible, authoritative Word of God.

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ; in His virgin birth; His sinless life; in His miracles; in His resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory. We believe that for the salvation of the sinful man, regeneration sovereignly applied by the Holy Spirit and evidenced by a living faith in Jesus Christ is absolutely essential. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling, the Christian is enabled to live a godly life.

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; they who are saved to the resurrection of life eternal and the lost to the resurrection of eternal damnation.

We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.

HISTORY

Gateway Christian School began in the spring of 1990. Several families met together to discuss what they envisioned in a Christian school. They felt strongly that families who have their children in the school should run it. It would be a place where Biblical truth was the foundation for learning. All truth is God's truth and therefore we should provide the very best for our children in all areas of the curriculum. The learning environment must foster a joy for learning and develop the desire and ability to tackle any field of knowledge. Also it is emphasized that knowledge is useless unless it is practiced in the world. A hands-on style of teaching is a must to bring this about.

In May of 1990, nine families decided to start the school. After three intense months, the school year was able to start offering a half-day kindergarten class. We met in the fellowship hall of Grace Bible Fellowship Church. God was continually faithful in meeting the needs of the school that first year in many exciting ways. When we felt we had done all we could do, God would give us direction and assurance in handling the different problems we faced.

GCS faculty is committed to developing students who stand for Jesus Christ in any and every area of life, no matter what the cost. Christian leadership is based on the infallible Word of God, and excellence in all things is the goal and prayer of all those associated with Gateway Christian School.

PHILOSOPHY, GOALS, AND OBJECTIVES

Gateway Christian School is founded on the view of God, man, and life presented in the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments of the Holy Bible. We affirm that the chief end of man is to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever; recognizing however, that because of man's sinful nature, he can only come to know and glorify God through the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit. In this way, Jesus becomes man's Savior, Lord, and life. Our philosophy is based on the conviction that a knowledge of the Bible and a spiritual, academic, and social emphasis Christian school will seek to establish the student in their position in Christ. Developing and relating the whole person to God in all facets of life does this.

Our philosophy recognizes a covenantal relationship, which God has established with believers and their children in view of this relationship, Gateway Christian School affirms that Christian education is primarily the parents' responsibility. Gateway Christian School functions as an extension of the home to assist the parents in educating their God-given children and to promote the proper relationship between family, church, and educational process.

Gateway Christian School subscribes to a Christian philosophy of education which is based upon the authenticity, authority, and reliability of the Bible as the complete and final revelation of God concerning all matters of faith, trust, practice, and morality. The Christian educational process must present all truth as God's truth and must interpret and integrate it in light of God's Word. All subjects are based on God's truth and will be taught from a Christian perspective. Such teaching is dependent upon the work of the Holy Spirit in the hearts and lives of the faculty and students alike.

Gateway Christian School recognizes the sovereignty of God in all human affairs and affirms that man was created in the image of God, the Creator. The Biblical view of creation dictates the school's position with respect to the origin of man. From this view comes the dignity and value of man which gives purpose and meaning to life.

Gateway Christian School is dedicated to developing in its students their endowments for knowing, choosing, and acting. Our aim is to foster spiritual and moral growth through awareness, commitment, and choosing; intellectual growth through knowledge, insight, and understanding; and creative growth through freedom, responsibility, and action. Through the dynamic interrelationships of these qualities, the student will come to understand their calling as Christians in a sinful world, will accept that calling, and will act in accordance with it.
