Stanford
10 Test Week
The Stanford 10 Achievement Test
is an excellent window on how your son/daughter is developing academically
compared to other students across the nation and other ACSI schools. Next week all Gateway students from
Kindergarten through high school will spend each morning taking ten
component tests on reading, math, spelling, science, listening and
other general academic knowledge areas.
You will receive the test results with your child(ren)’s final report
card(s) in June.
Grades three, five and seven also
take the Otis Lennon School Ability Test.
The School Ability Index (SAI) is an index of your child's relative
ability to deal with abstract relationships involving the manipulation of ideas
expressed in verbal, numerical and figural form.
As parents,
let me encourage you to not put any undo pressure on your child(ren) to perform
to any unreachable level. A simple
and affirming statement of “ I know that you can do your best” will be adequate. A positive emotional state always produces
the best academic output from anyone. This being said, let me conclude
with these five tips to further optimize your child(ren)’s performance:
1. Get
plenty of sleep (no late night activities).
2. Get
plenty of exercise (no “couch” potatoes).
3. Eat
a protein balanced breakfast and snack
(Avoid sugary foods like donuts, cookies,
etc.)
4. Drink
adequate amounts of water (no sodas).
5. Schedule
medical and dental appointments in the afternoon.
Blessings on your child(ren) during the coming
