Administrator’s Up-Date

 

Gateway Welcomes Our New Students & Families

 

            Not only is Gateway Christian School growing in its new K-2 classroom re-location to the Lighthouse Baptist Church campus, but also in new and returning students who have come into the school since September.  Our new students range in grade level from Kindergarten through the 12th grade. Please welcome these students and their families:

Isaac Villatoro (Kindergarten FD), Kiara Kiester (AM Kindergarten), Makayla Ropchan (2nd), Bryan Treff (5th), Christiana Wilson (6th), Corin Orejudos (8th), Chris Orejudos (10th) and Debbie Angulo (12th).

And in addition to these students and families, Peggy Collins reports that there are several other families with applications in process. Our current enrollment has now reached 176 students. Let’s all thank the LORD for the continuing growth of new students and facilities at GCS!

Family Envelopes -  Every Wednesday

Beginning, October 26 Family Envelopes will come home every Wednesday and are to be returned the next day (Thursday) for all students K-12. Enclosed will be the The Gate, and any other important news such as from PTF, School Board, etc.

 

Lighthouse Dedication

There will be a Lighthouse Dedication on Sunday, November 13, 2005. More information to follow.

 

Substitute Teachers Needed

Applications are being accepted for Substitute Teachers. Contact Mr. Stutzman if you, or anyone you know, may be interested.

 

Picture Re-Takes, November 15

Life Touch photography will be returning to both campuses for picture re-takes and make-ups on Tuesday, November 15.

 

Parent/ Teacher Conferences

Parent Teacher Conferences have been changed from November 17 and 18 as full days off to three minimum days as follows: November 16, 17, and 18.

These first quarter conferences are mandatory for all families.

Conference schedules will be going home.

Extended Day available for enrolled GCS students only.

Casual Dress Day

Wednesday, October 26

We will have our K-12 Casual Dress Day on Wednesday,

October 26 ( No School Friday, October 28).

 

Important Note Regarding Oct. 31

Halloween is an occasion which we do not celebrate at

GCS. Celebrate at home as you wish; however, please do

not send your child to school wearing a costume and, or

make-up. Please do not bring candy, or any type of food to

celebrate it.Thank you for your consideration.

 

K-5 Recognition Chapel &

8th Grade Pancake Breakfast

November 2

Mark your calendars! We will have a Combined Chapel for

grades K-12 at the LBC Campus. We will honor some of

our K-5 students with Character Trait Awards, and our 8th

Graders will be serving their first delicious pancake

breakfast of the school year. The donations they receive on

these breakfasts will help them earn money for their trip to

Washington DC!

Beginning with this date, our K-5th graders will continue to

meet each Wednesday, for Combined Chapel at LBC.

 

Katrina Relief Offering For October

GCS will be taking offerings at both campuses during

Chapel. There will be containers for your child to place his/

her donations. This money will be going to ACSI schools

who were affected by the hurricane and requested a  need.

K-12 Cookie Dough Fundraiser

Cookie Dough Pick-up:          Monday, October 24th at Lighthouse Baptist Church

                                    Pick up time 2:30pm-6:00pm

Prize Dates:                Prize Program K-8th will be distributed at end of sale

                                    Prize Program 9-12th  _  $5 gift cards will be distributed at end of sale.

                                    25 + items sold by 10/14 – Wins Ice Cream Sundays that day.

HS Room Moms Still Needed

Room Mom’s are still needed for and for 9th-12th

grade.

Please contact Christine O’Boyle at home 754-1045,

or on her cell 783-2126 if you are interested.

 

Extended School Day Program

For 1-20 hrs. per month, the cost is $7 per hr., 1st child and $5 per hr., each addl. child.

 

For 21-45 hrs. per month, the prepaid costs are payable in advance of the first school day of the month. The cost is $145 per month, 1st child and $100 per month each addl. child.                   

                                                                             

     Extended Day service ends at 5:00 pm. Parents picking up late will be charged $4 every five (5) minutes for each child.  

 

Parent Service Opportunities

Help is needed in the following areas:

LBC Campus:

          New:  * Before School Recess 8:00-8:15 am

                               for playground supervision

                     *AM Recess:   9:45-10:15   Mon., Tu., Wed., and Fri.                                    *Lunch & Recess:  11:20-12:20   (Subs) Mon.- Fri.

                         *PM Recess:   1:45-2:00   Tu., Wed., and Fri.
